We can expect that they are purchasing larger quantities and therefore have larger margins on most systems. Their prices range from 50 - 200 over AliExpress. Installed pfSense fresh so no need to worry about spyware etc though I dont know much about BIOS. I bought a Qotom Q355g4 with i5 processor, 8gb RAM and 60GB SSD just over a year ago for 300. I looked at the DEC750 and was intrigued, but limiting to 8GB memory without breaking the "THOU SHALL NOT TINKER" band-aid along with strange Bios support has me shook. looking to pick up an upgrade for my home firewall appliance. Protectli is one of the easier VARs to determine the added cost since much of their hardware is manufactured by Yanling and sold on AliExpress. I dont really see the advantage of Protectli over Qotom. IPS/IDS via Zenarmor and possibly Suricata. VPN (Wireguard or OpenVPN still undecided and not really picky right now) Multiple VLAN's with a couple L2/3 managed switches hanging off.
